This day is a sad one – it was the day of Betrayal. Jesus was spending His nights in Bethany with His disciples. On this day Jesus was absent. He had remained in Jerusalem where the Jewish high priests were anxiously scrutinizing His teachings and miraculous works, as well as the danger of His growing popularity. They arrived at a conclusion: He must die.
Judas appeared before the high priest; in return for 30 pieces of silver he promised to be of service. The Psalmist foretold it. “Even my bosom friend in whom I trusted, who ate of my bread, has lifted his heel against me.” (Psalm 41 :9).
