The children are back in school and autumn is in the air! It’s an exciting and busy time for students and parents alike.
Because learning never stops at the classroom, St. Thomas Armenian Church is proud to continue a tradition of almost 20 years of chess instruction to our Armenian children! We provide a wonderful opportunity to students, aged eight and up, to learn a national sport of Armenia. The Chess Club truly offers a unique opportunity to children in the area to participate in a well-respected sport that is played in at least 30 countries across the globe. Chess teaches a critical life skill – strategic thinking – the art of understanding, creating, and choosing among the many options life presents.
We are happy to announce the return of Chess Instructor Ohannes Baltaian to St. Thomas, and invite new and returning students to the free introductory session on Saturday, September 23.
All Armenian children from the Tri-state area can participate in the Chess Club at St. Thomas. Participation and membership are not contingent upon being enrolled at one of the schools or being a member of the church. Beginner and Intermediate Chess classes are taught weekly, on Saturdays, at 1:30pm. All interested parents should complete the attached registration form to Ani Capan.
