ACYOA Sports Weekend News!

Twenty-one youth from the St. Thomas ACYOA chapter attended Sports Weekend during Columbus Day weekend from October 7 to 9. Over 250 Armenian youth from the northeast gathered at this event, hosted by St. Leon’s in Fairlawn, NJ, to enjoy sports and social activities.

ACYOA Juniors Annual Car Wash

On Sunday September 17, 2017 after church services, the ACYOA youth group of St. Thomas Armenian Church held a fundraising Car Wash. The youth raised over $350 washing cars for 2 hours.

Screening of “They Shall Not Perish” with Shant Mardirossian

St. Thomas Armenian Church Cultural Committee hosted Near East Relief Board Member, Shant Mardirossian for the screening of his film “They Shall Not Perish: The Story of Near East Relief.” With over 50 people attending, Mr. Mardirossian and attendees had dialogue about the film and the role of the Near East Relief. Many would echo the opinion of one attendee who said “the film was very well produced and well-received by the audience.”

New Painting Classes Offered to Armenian Children

New and exciting opportunities for ALL Armenian youth offered at St. Thomas Armenian Church! Paint classes are being offered to children ages six and up, with instruction by Mariam Vardanyan, a graduate of the Yerevan State Pedagogical University in Art Design. Classes begin on October 14, and will be on Saturdays at 1:30pm. We are proud to encourage the artistic talents of our youth in this unique way, by art instruction with an Armenian flavor. 2017 Chess Instruction Saturdays

Because learning never stops at the classroom, St. Thomas Armenian Church is proud to continue a tradition of almost 20 years of chess instruction to our Armenian children! We provide a wonderful opportunity to students, aged eight and up, to learn a national sport of Armenia. We are happy to announce the return of Chess Instructor Ohannes Baltaian to St. Thomas, and invite new and returning students to the free introductory session on Saturday, September 23. All Armenian children from the Tri-state area can participate in the Chess Club at St. Thomas. Beginner and Intermediate Chess classes are taught weekly, on Saturdays, at 1:30pm. All interested parents should complete the attached registration form to Ani Capan.

First Day of Kirikian Armenian School 2017

On Saturday, September 17, the Kirikian Armenian School will open its doors once again to students aged 2 1/2 to 12 years old, eager to learn all aspects of Armenian language, history, culture, religion, music, and more. The Kirikian Armenian School is very nurturing and welcomes all new students with open arms.

First Week of Sunday School 2017

It’s back to school time, and back to Sunday School time at St. Thomas Armenian Church! Supervisor Jane Solakian enthusiastically welcomed students this past Sunday, September 10, for a whole new year of teaching the Armenian Apostolic Christian faith to our parish children. Enrollment remains open. If you are interested in enrolling your child to the St. Thomas Armenian Church Sunday School, you may do so by contacting Mrs. Solakian or the Church office.

Seeking Participants For Vodnluva Service

ACYOA Juniors Meeting and Chocolate-Making

The ACYOA of St. Thomas Armenian Church will have a meeting and chocolate-making on Sunday, April 2nd, in preparation for their annual Easter fundraising efforts. The meeting will take place directly after Soorp Badarak in the St. Thomas Youth Room. Lunch will be provided.
