On Palm Sunday, March 29, 2015, St. Thomas Armenian Church will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its consecration with a commemorative banquet.
The banquet is being dedicated to the 1.5 million Armenian martyrs on the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
The commemoration will take place immediately following the Divine Liturgy in Rupen
Saddler Hall. On this occasion, His Eminence, Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Church (Eastern) will celebrate the Holy Divine Liturgy, deliver the homily and preside over the banquet.
A historical overview of the past fifty years will presented by M.C. Antranig Ouzoonian P.E., who is a long-time member and leader of St. Thomas since its early days. A memorial booklet and slide presentation will also chronicle past events in the life of St. Thomas parish during the past half century.
The musical program organized for the event will be headlined by soprano Anoosh Barclay, followed by the St. Thomas Youth Orchestra under the direction of Diana Bourgol.
The large committee, under the leadership of V. Rev. Fr. Papken Dz. Vartabed Anoushian, Esq., Pastor of St. Thomas, has been actively working to ensure that this banquet planned to commemorate this important milestone in the history of St. Thomas will be a memorable event. The banquet is being chaired and generously underwritten by Dr. & Mrs. Levon and Ani Capan, who are St. Thomas Parish Council Chairman and Principal of the St. Thomas Kirikian Amenian School, respectively.
The donation for the event is $50 pp., for adults, $20 pp., for children 4-11 years and children under three are free.
